About the storyteller

Summer Lee is a Seoul-based journalist specialized in covering news coming out of the food and travel industry. She works with publications like The MICHELIN Guide Seoul, BBC.com, Eater, World’s 50 Best Restaurant, or locally for JoongAng Ilbo’s weekend edition, or luxury lifestyle magazine Avenuel. Previously, she worked for the Korea JoongAng Daily for 13 years.

Besides contributing her stories for media hubs, she also plays a role as an MC for conferences, a moderator for book talks, a translator and interpreter in events related to food and travel.

She is a sommelier and restaurant manager at Onyva Seoul, and there she shares all her knowledge on food, wine and travel in person, verbally. She becomes a cook every Sunday at NARANG Seoul, a casual gimbap joint where she invites professional and amateur chefs to come up with their own version of gimbap in order to show how versatile Korean food can become.

Summer is addicted to sweets and doesn’t let a day go by without having a piece of chocolate. A glass of well-aged Clos Rougeard’s “Breze” is what gets her go head over heels.

Her adventurous journey takes her to scuba dive with sharks side by side in Durban, and to zip line to tree hop in Laos’s forest during her overnight stay in a tree house that’s about 20 meters high. Visiting towns very well known for their vineyards is her passion and dining at local restaurants is a must.
